18 Clever Ideas for Organizing Your Kitchen — Apartment Therapy

There's a lot that goes on in your kitchen, so it's especially important that it be organized. Here are 18 ideas that will keep your cabinets and countertops clean and uncluttered, so you can focus on the important stuff, like cooking, and, of course, eating.

Use tension rods inside a drawer to keep the contents from being jumbled about.

Another great use for tension rods? Holding cookie sheets neatly upright.

You can also get the same effect with a file organizer.

Use bins to organize plastic containers and keep them within easy reach.

If you store your tupperware in a lower cabinet, mount a file to the inside of the door to hold the lids.

Affix magnets to old tins and use them to hold pens and other sundries on the side of the fridge.

Adding shelves inside your cabinets will keep pots from being stacked on top of each other and make them easy to access.

Or you can hang pot lids on a towel rack on the inside of the cabinet door, to making stacking pots easier.

Short on drawer space? Use a magazine file, mounted on the inside of a cabinet door, to keep plastic wrap and aluminum foil within easy reach.

Use a tension rod under the sink to hold cleaning supplies.

From the same blogger who brought us the tension rod idea comes this clever solution — hanging smaller items like bottle brushes on the inside of the cabinet. The nested baskets for cleaning supplies and sponges are pretty clever, too.

Running out of space in your pantry? Use glass jars on wall-mounted shelves to attractively display dry goods. (Just make sure those shelves are secured to the wall real good.)

Flatware caddies aren't just for flatware — use them to organize all the other stuff in your drawers, too.

Under-shelf baskets (like these from Amazon) can save you from having to stack your dishes and make things more accessible.

Using a lazy susan for spices will keep you from having to reach wayyy into the back of the cabinet.

Or you can attach a metal sheet behind your cabinet door, and make use of magnetic spice tins.

Store cutting boards in a wire holder on the inside of a cabinet door.

Hang smaller items like measuring spoons on the inside of your cabinets doors to ensure they'll always be within easy reach.
